Periodontal Treatments for Your Health

Periodontal treatments can support the structures and tissues that surround the teeth, while also diagnose a variety of gum diseases.  Ideally, periodontal care would start before infections begin to destroy the gums and bones of the teeth, as with periodontitis.  However, our team of periodontal experts is equipped to handle even the most extreme forms of periodontal disease and tooth decay.

At Dental Choice, we offer two main types of periodontal treatments.  These treatments can restore gums, teeth, and tissues, and include the following:

  • Connective Tissue Grafts (CT Grafts)- these tissue grafts help to recover the areas of the gums that have shrunk.  When recessions occurs, the gums can be exposed to increased sensitivity, lead to increased cavities, and yield a less pleasing appearance.  With the CT Grafts, both single and multiple areas can be treated.  Tissue is removed from the roof of the mouth for the graft.  This treatment can lead to significant reductions in recession area sensitivity.  In addition, gum height can be added post- treatment, which is only possible with the latest in dental technology.
  • Crown Lengthening- this surgical procedure exposes more of the tooth structure to restore a tooth.  With this procedure, the region around the tooth root is exposed and then reshaped.  The bony shape around the tooth may also be reshaped. Because of this procedure, a tooth becomes easier to clean, and decreases the chances of decay.

These procedures help our patients retain their smiles’ health and beauty for a lifetime.  For the ultimate oral health, speak to your dentist about periodontal treatment today.
