Treatment for Post-Secondary Students
As post-secondary students adapt to living on their own for the first time, they may become so busy that they forget about going to the dentist for regular dental hygiene and dental exams. However, this time period is critical in establishing good dental habits that will last a lifetime. At Dental Choice, we are committed to providing treatments to students in a welcoming environment so that they do not neglect their oral health during this important period in their lives. By delaying or avoiding treatment, students can increase their risk of gum disease, tooth decay, or other serious conditions. We seek to provide post-secondary students with a dental “home away from home” so that they can continue to receive professional care even though they may be far away from their childhood dentists.
In addition to our preventative dentistry treatments to keep teeth and gums as healthy as possible, Dental Choice offers several cosmetic treatments that can enhance a patient’s smile. Post-secondary students may be particularly interested in teeth whitening procedures that can lighten the shade of their teeth by up to eight shades. In addition, if your teeth are misaligned but you don’t want to wear traditional braces to class or to parties, we offer Invisalign® clear aligners that can straighten teeth less visibly and with less impact on day-to-day routine.
Information for Students to Bring
The team members at Dental Choice strive to make visits to our practice as easy and comfortable as possible. Our team members can provide assistance with all insurance and financial matters. We ask students who are on their parents’ dental plans to please bring the following information with them to their appointments:
- the insurance company/carrier
- the secondary insurance carrier
- the plan number with parent’s ID number
- parents’ birth dates and work phone number
- name of parent’s employer
- proof that you are a student
Come 15 minutes early to your first appointment so that you have time to fill in the patient questionnaire and health history.
Late and Cancelled Appointment Policy
Please be aware that your dental plan has special rates for students. If you are late, or miss your appointment, those special rates will no longer apply. Also, other patients could have used the Doctor and hygienist time that has been reserved for you.
Many groups have worked together to give students special rates. We strive hard to respect your time and expect no less from you.
