Dental Implant Restoration and Placement

FAQ – Frequently Asked Questions

Dental implant restoration can provide a seamless tooth replacement solution. Our General Dentists will help determine whether dental implants are the most appropriate treatment for your needs, and they will gladly answer any questions you may have about this treatment.

What Is Dental Implant Restoration?

Dental implants are placed to address the cosmetic and functional consequences of tooth loss. They consist of titanium posts that are surgically embedded into the jawbone and replacement teeth that are securely attached to the titanium posts. Dental implant restoration is generally a safe, sturdy, and natural-looking solution to missing teeth. We can help you determine if it is right for you.

How Are Dental Implants Placed?

Dental implant restoration can be completed in only two office visits. In the first visit, the titanium posts are surgically placed in the jawbone. The second visit will take place approximately three to six months later, after the titanium post has been given time to fuse with the jawbone. In the second part of the procedure, the replacement teeth are attached to the titanium posts. In both procedures, sedation techniques are used so that the patient will not feel any pain or discomfort during treatment.

What Are Replacement Teeth Made Of?

The type of replacement teeth that are used in dental implant restoration will depend on the patient's individual needs and goals. If the patient is missing only one tooth, then a dental crown is typically used. Dental bridges may be utilized if more than one tooth is being replaced. In all cases, the dentist will strive to provide the most natural-looking and effective dental implant restoration possible.

What Are The Advantages Of Dental Implant Restoration?

Dental implants are a semi-permanent and sometimes permanent solution for patients who are missing teeth. They are occasionally used to eliminate gaps in the smile, they may reduce discomfort, and improve oral health. Other advantages of dental implants include their natural-looking appearance, a restored ease of chewing, and convenience. For more information about the dramatic results that are possible with dental implant restoration, please contact one of our offices in Edmonton or Calgary. We invite you to schedule a consultation with one of our dentists at a Dental Choice location near you.

Are Dental Implants A Solution For Anyone With Missing Teeth?

Although dental implants are usually the ideal choice for patients with missing teeth, they are not appropriate for every candidate. Some conditions and medical circumstances, such as diabetes and exposure to radiation therapy in the mouth area, may decrease the effectiveness of the procedure. At Dental Choice, we professionally screen dental implant candidates prior to treatment to determine whether dental implant restoration is a safe and appropriate solution for their needs. We offer alternatives to dental implants such as removable partial and full dentures.
