Leap of Faith
Dental Choice is a proud supporter of the AboutFace Charity. Our team will be taking part in this year's Leap of Faith fundraiser, to help raise pledges and increase awareness to people with facial differences. On July 9, 2011, some of our employees and dentists will be skydiving in support of AboutFace. Other team members will be arranging an on site fundraiser to cheer on the jumpers from the ground. We encourage patients, friends, and families to participate! You can either raise pledges to go skydiving, or pledge for an employee that's are jumping. By doing this, you will not only raise proceeds towards AboutFace, but you will also help increase awareness.

AboutFace
AboutFace is the only charitable organization in Canada that represents individuals with any kind of facial difference, whether congenital or acquired.
Our goal is to help individuals with facial differences to feel confident in who they are and enable them to reach their potential. We also promote a culture of acceptance and support within communities.
The programs that we offer focus on psychosocial support and education for individuals with facial differences. We also provide support and education for their families and health care teams.
Some of our specific programs are geared toward parents of newborns with facial differences, a camp for youths with facial differences, a new leadership program for young adults and workshops for adults.
We also provide programs in the community, including schools, work places and professional education forums so that people can learn more about facial differences. Our goal is to instill a culture of acceptance and support in communities.
Your mouth says it all and a smile reflects what's on the inside, not the difference on the outside.

How will AboutFace use the donations?
Leap of Faith is a fundraising initiative the proceeds of which go towards AboutFace programs.
We seek to bring about changes in attitudes towards facial difference so that our communities are nurturing, supportive environments where every member has the opportunity to thrive.
We plant the seed for building communities of support with school children across Canada through our programs Jessie's Blessing (ages 3 - 7) and Facing Differences (ages 8 - 12). These programs educate them and help them to understand and accept diversity and facial differences.
We also offer a camp for youth ages 10 - 18 so that young people with facial differences have the opportunity to experience challenges in a positive environment, where they don't feel self conscious. This enables them to develop confidence and to learn life skills and leadership skills. At Camp Trailblazers they achieve personal growth which puts them on the path to grow up to be leaders in their communities.
